Spring Summer 2012 Idea Book New Product Blog Hop!

Heart 2 Heart Color Challenge

Since it is a little harder now for me to find time to get crafty, I have decided that I will challenge myself to participate in the H2H challenges more often. This will force me to make crafty time! I got to spend some time crafting this evening actually and I came up with this cute little box/purse in the colors of Amethyst and Crystal Blue for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge for this week. I also took the plus challenge and added some glitter! I got this idea from the new Spring/Summer Idea book which will be available to everyone on February 1st. It is fantastic!

I used paper from the Wonderland paper pack as well as Amethyst cardstock. The CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge was a huge help in making the little bag cutout as well as the snowflake and the tag. I incorporated the stamp set from this months special, Rock the Block to create the border and the saying on the tag. If you look closely you'll even see 2 brand new CTMH products that I used!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - NEW!

I haven't yet shared this adorable piece of home decor I made. I needed something wintery to hang on my front door after all the Christmas decorations had been taken down so I found a mix and mingle album that had not yet been used and got to work! I love the Wonderland paper pack but seeing that we haven't had any snow (and this is not me hoping for any...) I haven't had a use for the paper but wanted to use it so badly, so it just seemed fitting to put the 2 together. This project also fits the H2H challenge for this week to find a stamp set that you haven't used yet or used in a long time and make something with it. The stamp set I used, Winter Joy, was one that I ordered in the summer right after the CTMH convention and didn't use until this project, just the other day!

I love how this turned out and I now love returning home at the end of the day just to see it shimmering on my front door! I also added some of the Icing Top Coats and bling for a little something extra. This month's stamp set is great for any occasion where you might need to remember or mark a date. It would be great to use to announce a special event or send out reminders for the date for a special event. I used it on 2 projects, a page layout that celebrates the 4th of July (I know, I'm a little behind!) and a card that will go to my sister-in-law when my nephew is born in February (yep, a little ahead of the game!).

The layout I created features the Dreamin' and Elemental Paper packs as well as some stars and fireworks cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge...it just doesn't get old!

The card uses the very small scraps I have left of one of my favorite paper packs, Aspen. It has been retired for a while now but you can still use it in Studio J! I used one of the line stamps from this set to make the cris-cross pattern on the dark blue piece of paper as well as the lines around the outer edge of the card.

Welcome to the December Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! I can't believe it is December already! The stamp set featured this month is S1112 Mad About You. This month we have 56 wonderful consultants participating and showing off their creations. This stamp set is great for projects for someone you love and looks great on cards, tags, scrapbook pages, and 3-D projects!

This month's stamp set is great for any occasion where you might need something special for that special someone or just want to express your love for whatever it is you love. It took me a while to get into this stamp set, I'm not really the mushy, gushy, lovey-dove type. As I was looking through the Art Philosophy booklet I found some shapes that I wanted to play with and that was how these 2 cards were born.

The first card is cut using one of the card shapes from the Art Philosophy Cartridge. Still loving it!! The card is 4.25" by 4.25" and the 2" heart of this stamp set fits perfectly in the cut out shape! I was hoping that would happen. :)

The second card is an easel card and I had a lot of fun playing with the placement of the hearts and bling. The hearts and the banner shape were also cut with the Cricut Cartridge. I used papers from the Roxie paper pack.

H2H challenge - Sentiment stamp only!

The H2H Challenge for this week is to use only a sentiment for stamping. No other stamps can be used. This is truly a challenge! I did manage to accomplish this in a few of my Holiday cards that will also be made at my workshop coming up in November.

Yep, believe it or not, each of these cards only has a stamped sentiment. It's awesome that several sheets of the Believe paper pack are busy patterns because they can stand alone nicely without too much additional embellishing.

H2H challenge - all cardstock

I know I am a day late on this one, at least the post part of it anyway! My project was finished Thursday if that counts for anything! Anyway, I wanted to hop on the cardstock challenge over at the H2H challenge blog this week. I have had this idea floating in my head for a while now, so here it is finally made out of paper. It is simple, very little detail but I think its a cute and fun way to wish someone a yummy birthday.

I based my design loosely on the pattern for the flower pot cards that everyone loves. I made my ice cream scoops from 2 shapes on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, and I only used cardstock, in 4 colors!

Exciting email!

A couple days ago I got a very exciting email from Close to my Heart. A while back I had entered 3 layouts in what they call the Make it from your Heart contest. They run this contest for consultants each time there is a new Idea Book. Well, as I waited on pins and needles for the contest winners to be announced, an email appeared in my inbox! Score! One of my layouts won! I was so excited I could barely sleep that night! Unfortunately I can't yet show off the winning layout but I can share with you the other 2 that I created that were not chosen. I still like them very much!

The first one uses Roxie paper and the 10 Things stamp set and some shapes cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

The second one features Typeset, the Milepost shapes, green buttons and cork alphas - no stamping!
Once the winning layout is posted on the CTMH website, I will also share it here as well as the link to see all the winning artwork!

CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cards using Typeset Paper

Here we are in September and the back to school season is in full effect! This of course hasn't left me a whole lot of time to be crafty but I do want to share with you some of the fun I have been having with the new CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. Typeset wasn't my favorite paper pack to start with but I jumped right in to using it and I have grown to love it. In the photos that follow, you will see my version of the "Bonus Project" from the Typeset Workshop on the Go. The card bases are all cut using the exclusive CTMH Cricut Cartridge and so are many of the shapes featured on the cards. No more hand cutting stamped images for me!! I also only used the stamp sets that come with the Cricut bundle as well as the September Stamp of the month, Limited Edition, to show how little you need to complete a project. Enjoy! Typeset Desk Organizer Workshop

I have had so much fun working with new product so far! I love all the new papers and I am growing to really like Typeset, and the Milepost shapes, just awesome! So I decided these would combine perfectly to make an adorable desk caddy. And sure enough, I love it! It will be sitting on my desk this school year for all my students and teacher friends to see. I love it so much in fact that I want to share the opportunity to make one with everyone.

H2H Hot, hot, hot this week!

Over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog, the theme is HOT! Well since it is summer, I suppose that would make sense. So I took a look through the stack of photos I have just waiting to take their place in my scrapbook and I found some that I still had from 4th of July weekend (I had done some in Studio J already, see previous post). It was hot that weekend and it was a great day for a cookout and the pool. So, I share with you my 4th of July Family Picnic (dessert style!) Layout.

I used the Fanfare Paper pack and Stickease as well as the July stamp of the month and the Boom! stamp set. I love how it turned out and since everyone had to have an icing mustache I added a flip flap to make sure to include everyone.

ScrapThat Preview for Saturday August 6th

So for all you followers out there who attend the crops at ScrapThat, here's a preview of the mini make and take class that I will be teaching on Saturday. They found some room for me and let me come back - yay! I am so excited for this crop because we get to play with brand new product! I decided to use the Elemental Paper Pack to create this weeks layout and it is so versatile and goes with anything - and bonus, I've got several different color combos to choose from! I'll show you my sample but you'll have to wait until Saturday to see the other color combinations I have available.

My California Adventure pictures were perfect for this paper! The picture does not do it justice, it looks so much better in person.

August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! The stamp set featured this month is S1108 Wicked! This month we have over 60 wonderful consultants participating and showing off their creations! This hop is a super exciting one - not only is it a new stamp for a new month, but also the first one from a brand spankin' new Idea Book!! I used a bunch of new product on my project and I am sure you'll see a lot more from others as well!

This month's stamp set is all about Halloween. I wanted to challenge myself to use it in a non-Halloween way and I was thinking Harry Potter but I didn't get that far before getting hung up on Halloween. My creation is a little treat pocket using the new Decor Journaling Spots. I tried to use as many of the different images as possible and I also used our new Pin Clips as well as a couple shapes from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge - awesome!! Don't mind the lack of decent candy, it was all I had and I promise to fill it with better before Halloween!

I took the black tag holder apart and turned it inside out to the solid black side where I decided to stamp the hexagon pattern to create my own background. Hopefully you can see it in the photo below.

Convention Time!!!!

Right now I am in sunny California attending the Close to my Heart annual convention and by now I have been able to see all the awesome new products for fall/winter and it won't be much longer before I can share it all with you too! H2H Photo Inspiration Challenge

Heart 2 Heart Color Challenge

This week over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog they've got a color challenge! I love a good color challenge - and this one is particularly festive. My father is now officially retired but that doesn't mean that he didn't need me to make him a few more thank you cards before his last day! This is another thank you card made for my father so I decided to incorporate the challenge colors and make it duel purpose! The colors are Barn Red, Bamboo and any shade of blue. I used 2 shades of blue for this card, twilight and outdoor denim.

I used paper from the Emporium paper pack for the twilight flower background and bamboo, outdoor denim, barn red and colonial white card stock. Welcome to the July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! The stamp set featured this month is D1458 American Celebration. This month we have 64 wonderful consultants participating and showing off their creations!

This month's stamp set is so patriotic and versatile! I loved using it for this page layout of my trip to the Phillies game and also the birthday card that I made and I foresee using it a lot more to scrapbook my 4th of July memories! For the layout I used mostly star images to complement my baseball theme.

For the card, I was able to stamp the large firework image and then punch it out with the scallop punch to give it the 3-D effect that you see. I then stamped the large star image and punched it out with the circle punch to create the center. I saw this done and just had to give it a try - thanks to Naomi Smith!

This card is for a special friend of mine who will undoubtedly see this card here before she gets it in the mail but it's ok. She'll understand when it arrives!

Heart 2 Heart Bingo Challenge

As with all my posts it seems lately, I am a little late! This Heart 2 Heart Challenge was for last week and had planned to play along on time, but got backed up with other crafty ventures. But anyway, I did play along with Bingo and still wanted to share my creation. My father is retiring in just a few short days and apparently the folks that he works with have been helping him out and he has hired me to make all his thank you cards. This gave me the perfect opportunity to make a card that fit the challenge!

The challenge was to pick 3 items in a line on the board and use them to create. I ended up with flowers, a border punch and some buttons. I used kraft cardstock for my base and used the Mayberry paper pack for the other pieces. I used pink and green buttons, and big pinks flowers. The border punch is a Fiskars punch that I have had forever and love! I used the Thank You stamp set and Smoothie ink.

Again, I am late with posting the preview! Shame on me! Well, now that the school year is over I should have much more time to be more focused on the blogging world. I wanted to go in so many directions with this stamp set and throughout the month I'm sure I will be creating more with it! The 2 creations that I have made so far are a great summer layout using the fireworks image and the celebrate image and Fanfare papers. I didn't have the perfect pictures but my cousin did! I absolutely love how this turned out!

At the end of April, Close to my Heart held a one day event for its consultants in the Philly area. It was a wonderful experience and such a great feeling to know I am part of a wonderful company that takes care of its consultants. At this event, we had an auction to raise money for Operation Smile, a great organization that helps children pay for surgeries for clef palette and other facial deformities. We raised $3000!! Enough to pay for over 12 surgeries!! You can read all about it here on Jeanette Lynton's blog.

Also at this event, I was able to participate in a contest/swap. While I didn't win the contest, I got some beautiful swap items. I want to share the layout that I entered.

I used the Lucky paper pack, wooden buttons, journaling tags, hemp and even some embossing to make this layout come together.

Hi all! I know it has been a while since I have posted anything new, I have been up to my ears in "life"! And then when I finally get a free moment, Blogger decides to have an off day! Ok, enough excuses, on to bigger and better things....like what I've been creating for all of you to see.

I'll be back at ScrapThat tomorrow and we are going on a Flip Flap Frenzy! Both of the mini-classes I am offering will be different ways to use CTMH's exclusive Flip Flaps. Check out the photos below. I have some fellow consultants to thank for some inspiration for these projects. First, my upline, the lovely, Helen Onulak, is the original creator of the layout. I then ran with her idea and added some Flip Flaps to it to maximize photo space. The flip flap photo book was originally created by Anna Jarnagin and I thank her for that, this is a wonderful little project!

This month was a bit of a challenge. These chairs and sayings are adorable but I wasn't thinking they were the easiest to work with. But then my dogs actually helped me out and the 2 page layout I created was born! They love to sit in the big chair and look out the window and I finally caught both of them on the chair at the same time - it was perfect! I also created a 3.5 x 8 card as well. Heart 2 Heart Bunny Hop!

Just for today - H2H challenges blog is hosting a Bunny Hop!

It is all about Easter and Spring over there so as I just had a card workshop yesterday afternoon and 2 of the cards fit the ticket I figured I'd join the hop!

This first card was made using Sophia paper and the A Tulip stamp set. A piece of velcro holds the flap closed.

The second card features random stamping using the Sensational Season stamp set and Mayberry papers. I love how this turned out!

H2H Gets sketchy!

This week over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenges blog we were given a sketch to work with.

I like this kind of challenge because it takes some of the "work" out of the planning process. As I was thinking about the sketch this week, I was sure I wanted to use CTMH's new kraft color ready borders. I pulled out some stamp sets looking for ones with tall designs and this is what I came up with:

It is crisp, clean and colorful! I got the inspiration for the color combo from some of the new paint charts I picked up at Lowe's the other night. The purple should be a bit more like magenta but I like the color combo!

This month I drew my inspiration from a color combination from an outfit that I love to wear. The outfit consists of brown pants, a pink shirt and a cream colored sweater. My sister-in-law is so excited to have recently become an aunt! Her sister just had an adorable baby boy. I knew that I had some Caboodle paper left so I decided to make a book for the baby. It just so happens that baby is the theme over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog this week! And here I was thinking I had no reason to make anything baby. Some of the pictures are blurry and for that I apologize and I have no idea why. I would retake them but the book is now packed to go to a crop with me this weekend!

Hope for Japan

Like many organizations, Close to my Heart has hopped on board to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. They have created a very pretty A-size stamp set that has 100% of the profits going to the American Red Cross for relief efforts. Ordering information has not been provided yet but I can make a list of pre-orders for anyone who would like one of these.

Typically, our A-sized sets retail for $7.95/$8.95 CAN, but the "Hope for Japan" set will be available through April 30 for just $5--and Close To My Heart will be donating 100% of the profits to the American Red Cross to benefit relief efforts in Japan.

If we all do a little, together we can do a lot. Let's show our support and together, provide real HOPE for Japan!

H2H Color Challenge and other cards

I love when the Heart 2 Heart challenge for the week is colors! I love playing with different color combos and while most say the colors aren't always easy to work with, I love being limited to only certain colors, makes decision making easy! This weeks colors are pretty awesome in my opinion. Gypsy, Creme Brulee and Black. Wild, right?

So I thought these would be great for a birthday card with some cupcakes on it so I checked out the Fanfare workshop guide for some cupcake inspiration. That was how this card came to be! It took me several tries to get it just the way I liked it, but I'm happy with it now!

H2H Cold challenge!

The Heart 2 Heart Challenge for this week has to do with "cold." Well, we sure have had our fair share of cold and snow here in NJ this winter! And my dogs could not be happier - they love the white stuff!! It's a good thing someone does, because I have sure had enough of it. Anyway, I thought I would share some Studio J layouts that I have done using the pictures of my dogs playing and having a good old time in the snow!

I decided to do a card this month but later I did use the stamp set on a layout so I will share both with you. The card is a 4.5 by 4.5 inch square card from the Wishes How-to book, the pattern - Just Right. On page 61 of the new Spring/Summer Idea book, I loved the color combo of Garden Green, Petal and Smoothie and knew I wanted to create something with those colors. I created a background with Petal and one of the images alternating full color and second generation stamping. And so the card came together!

I also used the stamp set on the Sweetheart Workshop on the Go layout that I put together. Since I don't have a "princess" to scrapbook, I decided to use my friends instead. The saying from this stamp set worked perfectly in the journaling spot!

ScrapThat Crop on Saturday Jan 29th and Sweetheart preview

The artwork that I am sharing today is not only a preview of the make and take that I have for the lovely ladies (and sometimes men!) that come out to the crops at ScrapThat but also a sneak peak at one of Close to my Hearts brand new Sping/Summer paper packs, Sweetheart! It is perfect for the month of February boasting a color pallet of tulip, cotton candy, black and white. I decided to switch it up this time and instead of a layout we are going to be making clear cards!!! Perfect for your special someone for Valentine's day!

H2H color Challenge

The first challenge of the year over at the Heart 2 Heart challenge blog is a color challenge - I love those!! And these colors are great - so great in fact that it turns out I had created something over my winter break that used these very colors!

As I was working through my photos from convention this past summer I was working to cross paper packs and do some outside the box color combos. Here is what I created with a little black added to the mix:

Instead of doing a card or a layout for this month, I decided to try my hand at some home decor. I used several new techniques on this project. First off, I was inspired by Helen Onulak to create this cute little wall hanging and the December episode of Art & Soul taught me the technique I used to create the marbleized background paper. I used CTMH's new Spray pen to create the splatters on the passage. I had a lot of fun creating this project so enjoy! Feel free to contact me for more details on how I made this project.
