“I love scrapbooks. They are one of the finest ways of dejunking life and abode... A good scrapbook is interesting and inspiring even to the stranger...Well put together scrapbooks and photo albums have warmed more hearts than any bound book... Without a good scrapbook, much that's memorable in life is forgotten or damaged or lost...."

H2H Color Challenge for the week of 7-26

It has been a couple of weeks since I have participated in the Heart 2 Heart Challenge but I am happy to say that this weeks color challenge inspired me to come back and play!  The colors are Vineyard Berry, Blush and Creme Brulee.

I was just starting to work on the pages of my hair cut/donation to Locks of Love and this happened to work very well!  Great timing indeed!  So the first set follows the challenge exactly and just uses the 3 colors and a neutral, the second adds a splash of Juniper to the mix.  Only the first layout is for the challenge but the colors worked so well, I used them on my second layout as well!

Materials:
Paper: Emporium Creative Basics, Key to my Heart, Unforgettable Paper Pack, blush and Colonial White Cardstock
Inks: Vineyard Berry, Blush, Creme Brulee, Cocoa
Stamp sets: Something Splendid, Chocolate Alpha large and small, A Love
Other Embellishments: Blush Brads, Creme Brulee Ribbon, Color-ready Alphas, Irresistibles Lots of Dots Alpha

Be sure to check out all the other entries this week and play along at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog!

Summer time!

Right about now I am just starting my second day of the Close to my Heart Convention in Washington, DC!  Since I am writing this to post while I'm gone, I'm going to assume that I am going to be having a blast with all my other consultant "sisters (and brothers)"!   I wanted to leave you with something while I was gone so you didn't think I fell off the planet.  This was a page I made to remember all the wonderful people that I taught with in the Math Department this past year.  4 of those people will not be with us again next year, some retiring and some just moving on with life.  It turned out even better than I had hoped so I wanted to show everyone.  Keep in mind as well that I am a 2-page layout girl so this single pager had me stepping out of my "circle" of comfort!

Enjoy!

Materials:
Splendor Level 2 paper packet
Just Blooms White Daisy
Dimensional Elements On Target
Splendor Designer Brads
Cherished Flourishes Stamp Set, Summer Wishes Stamp Set, Cocktail Alpha Stamp Set
Moonstruck, Topiary, Goldrush, and Heavenly Blue Ink

Be back on Sunday to give you a preview of all the great new stuff CTMH has for the Fall!!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Sketch week - Wishes - City Scape

This weeks challenge over at Heart 2 Heart was to follow the card pattern City Scape from one of CTMH's great How-to books, Wishes.  When I looked at the pattern I realized the card was smaller than I had imagined and my first idea was going to need more space.  I had also wanted to incorporate Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday combo for this week into my creation.  Well after playing around for a while, I decided to do both!  My first card follows the pattern size 4 3/4" by 3" and does indeed use Jeanette's colors of Chocolate, Sunflower, Twilight and Sorbet.  I used the Petite Perks stamp set available to earn during this Idea Book period.  I do like how it turned out, I used my blending pen to color the flower and butterfly.

But, wait, there's more....I did a second card as well to satisfy the first idea that I had, the one that needed more room!  I converted the card into a 5" by 7" to accommodate my runner girl on her jaunt through the grass and flowers.  I am enjoying using the Splendor paper pack and the designer brads that match - so much that you might just see it show up again soon!

I've enjoyed playing with this sketch - now head on over to the H2H Challenges blog to gather inspiration to create your own art!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Happy 4th of July!

This weeks challenge over at the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog is a festive one - somehow include stars and/or stripes (and Maple leaves for our Canadian friends) in your project.  Well, everywhere I went it seems like everyone was getting ready for this upcoming holiday weekend so I decided to work with that and combine a whole bunch of challenges into one.  My card follows the Mojo Monday sketch for the week.  It also includes the colors from Jeanette Lynton's Monday color combo.  Lastly, of course it has lots of stars and even some stripes!

Front of card when it's closed:

 Inside of card when open:

It took a little bit of playing with scraps to get this to come together the way I wanted it to, but I am very pleased with the results!  Now go check out what everyone else has created by visiting the H2H challenge blog - and maybe even get crafty yourself!

Materials:
Papers: scraps from You Rock (outdoor denim), scraps from Cherry-O (tulip), Tulip, Desert Sand, Crystal Blue, and Colonial White Cardstock
Stamp Sets:  A Twinkle, July Word Puzzle
Inks: Crystal Blue, Desert Sand, Outdoor Denim, Tulip

July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring the stamp set D1423 Happy Forever.  Hopefully you have seen lots of wonderful artwork to inspire you this month!

This is just my second time participating in this blog hop and I am still very excited to show you what I have created this month with our little "hedgie"!

If you have come from Nancy's Blog then you are on the right track!

The card that I made was inspired by Vicki Wizniuk.  She made a card that I wanted to try out for myself, so I did with a few changes.  First, I was on a roll with our new Clear Cards so I wanted to play with those and also our new Chipboard Irresistibles Pizzaz.  So with her idea in my head and these new products in front of me, this is what I came up with.  I think this little guy is adorable and sure to make anyone's day a little brighter!

Stamping on the clear cards requires the use of an ink that won't run or smear, so scared as I was to use Staz-on, I gave it a try.  I am happy to report, my sentiment isn't going anywhere!  I also used Staz-on to stamp the Hedgehog so that when I colored him in, I wouldn't lose the outline.

Materials used:
CTMH Square clear card
Splendor Level 2 Paper Packet
Colonial White Cardstock
D1423 Happy Forever stamp set
Irresistibles Pizzaz chipboard shapes
CTMH Inks: Topiary, Goldrush, Staz-on Brown
CTMH Markers: Brown Bag, Chocolate, Moonstruck, Creme Brulee

Now it's time to head on over to Melissa's Blog and see what she has created!

If you lose your way or just want to check out the list of participants, Helen's blog has a complete list.

If you like what you see here and would like to get your own stamp set or other supplies, email me at GrigsterN@yahoo.com.

H2H12 Color challenge

This week, the Heart 2 Heart Challenge is a color challenge.

I have been using a lot of Zippidee paper lately but these colors weren't exactly the same so I had to come up with something else.  After putting solid colors together, I knew I needed a patterned paper to bring it all together.  I remembered checking out what the design team had created and liked what Helen had done with the Argyle Background stamp set to create her "patterned" paper.  It worked well for what I was doing as well, so thank you Helen!  This layout officially concludes the game night series for me!

Supplies:
Jingle Creative Basics, Let's Get Together Paper Pack, That's Amore Paper Pack, Tulip, Black and White Daisy Cardstock
Tulip Mini Medley Accents
Irresistables Pizzaz chipboard shapes
Argyle Backgrounds Stamp
Tulip, Black and Buttercup Inks

I invite you to check out all the other entries this week for the Heart 2 Heart challenge!

H2H11 Get Scrappy Challenge!

The challenge for this week at Heart 2 Heart is a fun one - get scrappy!  Use your scraps to create something for Dad.  Well, I've been working a lot with Zippidee recently to scrapbook my recent trip to the Circus and I've got a bunch of scraps going.  So I pulled out those scraps to see what I could come up with.

I had enough Cranberry CS to create a base for a 4.5" by 4.5" card, so I went from there.  I chose to use the Wishes How to book pattern Fancy Four.  I wanted to give it a more roughed up feel so I used some sanding and distressing to do just that.  It's nice to use up scraps sometimes - goodness knows I have enough!!

Materials:
Scraps from a Zippidee Level 2 paper pack
Inks: Black, Dutch Blue, Colonial White
Stamp Sets:  A Little Everything, June Word Puzzle, It's Your Day, and Wonderful Friend
Other: Edge Distressor, Sanding Kit, Embossing Stylus, Paper Piercer, and various black and cranberry embellishments.

Have fun playing with your scraps this week and be sure to play along with the Heart 2 Heart challenges!

H2H Scrapbook Challenge!

Well, I have to say, this weeks Heart 2 Heart challenge wasn't really that at all for me.  Scrapbooking is 95% of what I do!  But I did challenge myself in a different way.  I have been thinking more about how I can more effectively market CTMH's Level 1 scrapbooking kits, so I purchased a few to play.  After going to the circus, Zippidee seemed like a fitting paper choice for those photos. After looking at some artwork and going through my pictures this is what I was able to put together in about 1 hour, and I still have 2 full sheets of paper and some scraps left!   I think they turned out pretty nice!

Materials:
Zippidee Level 1 Scrapbook kit, black marker

Now stop on over to the Heart 2 Heart Challenges blog to see all the great artwork this week!
Oh, and be on the look out for some fabulous upcoming workshops for the summer!!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge #8 - Stamp your own background

This weeks Heart 2 Heart challenge was to create something with a stamped background.  This allowed me the opportunity to do a couple of things I have been itching to do.  First, I wanted to play with the June stamp of the month Wonderful Friend.  Second, I wanted to play with a new technique I learned, chalk popping.  I am happy to say I got to do both and I am pretty happy with the end result!  This card is from the Originals book - Tied Frame but I made it into a 3x3 instead of the 6x6 due to the size of the paper that I used to experiment.

Supplies used:
Paper: Colonial White, Barn Red, and Garden Green cardstock
Inks: Versamark, Barn Red, Grey Flannel
Soft Chalks - winter set
Wonderful Friend stamp set
Pewter bitty brads
Liquid Glass
Hemp
eyelets (not CTMH)
Originals card making How-to book

Head on over to Heart 2 Heart to see everyone's awesome creations for this challenge!

Heart 2 Heart Challege #7 - A color challenge

This week I decided that I was going to participate in the Heart 2 Heart challenge because I found myself with a couple of hours to create the other night - imagine that!  I have been working on scrapbooking pictures that I have from game night held at my church and I managed to find pictures that worked well with the given color combination.  So I thought it was pretty easy to work with these colors, being that I usually have trouble working with picking colors.  Enough blabbing, let me show you what I created!

I even decided to get creative and made dice and dominoes using Topiary brads that I discovered I had!

Supplies used: (all products used are CTMH)
Cardstock: Colonial White and Ocean
B & T paper from Splendor (Topiary) and Zipidee (Desert Sand)
Inks: Desert Sand, Topiary, Ocean
Stamp Sets: Posterboard Alphabet, Noted Backgrounds
Black marker
Topiary metal embellishments
Corner rounder to create scalloped edge

Summer Idea Book Projects

As you all know, I hosted an Open House for the new Close to my Heart Summer Idea Book.  All the attendees got to make 2 cards and a 2 page layout featuring brand new products from the book.  For those of you who were unable to attend, I thought it would only be fair to share 2 of the projects with you.  If you like what you see and are interested in getting your hands on a kit of your own to make the projects, feel free to email me.  I do still have a few kits available and I can pre-stamp them for you if you don't have the stamp set.

A few clear cards

I recently ordered CTMH's brand new clear cards.  At first I wasn't too sure what to make of them so the other night I decided to check out what others had done with them to see what I could then come up with.  I also pulled out my Wishes how to book to check out the circle shaped cards.  After playing for a bit here are the 2 cards that I have made so far.  I like how they turned out and now I'm hooked!

The first one uses the new Splendor paper pack, our new Irresistible lots of dots chipboard resist shapes and the brand new stamp set Hot Diggity.  I used Moonstruck Ink to stamp the butterfly as well as ink up the Irresistible frame around the word thanks.  I added some Glitz glitter glue to give it some sparkle.  I used the rock-and-roll technique to stamp "thanks."

The second one uses the new Cherry-O paper pack, Irresistible lots of dots, Cherry-O Opaques and the Bowl of Cherries stamp set only available with the purchase of the Cherry-O Workshop on the Go.  I used Sweet Leaf ink to ink the Irresistible as well as Tulip and Chocolate for the stamped images.  Some of the cherries are lighter than others, this is accomplished by using the second generation technique - stamping the image a second time without re-inking the stamp to get a lighter image.

If you like what you see and would like to order any of these items, feel free to email me:  GrigsterN at yahoo.com.

Thanks for looking, have a happy day!
